hope you had a nice memorial day weekend and avoided drinking too much. or avoided the people who did.
and if you're going to the store(s) for memorial day sales, hope you find a go deal.

my brother discovered this at wal-mart a few days ago. so we decided to try it.
we put it on chicken patty sandwiches (with medium cheddar & sandwich pepperoni), but could not really taste it. so, we put some on a plate & tipped our fingers in it to find out what it tastes like. i guess it is better as a dip than a condiment.
it is like a spicy ketchup/mayo combo. possibly based on thousand island dressing. as many "special" sauces seem to be.
there isn't a zaxbys in like 250-300 miles of here, but now we know what their "zax sauce" is like.
it's been around 90 degrees the past couple of days. i don't like it.
it is supposed to cool off to more reasonable spring-like temperatures soon.
firmly in the spring-like category.
although accuweather.com says it is cooler than it is supposed to be this time of year.
i do not look forward to hotter weather.
we figured we needed more probiotics & decided to try kefir.
according to google kefir is a tangy, probiotic-rich fermented drink made from kefir "grains" (a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) mixed with milk or water, resulting in a slightly fizzy, yogurt-like beverage packed with vitamins, minerals, and protein.
we got a raspberry flavored one from target & it is more sour than "tangy." and thick, like a drinkable yogurt.
would not get again. we are thinking of sticking to regular yogurt for probiotics from now on.
in this case "dirty" means that it has a vanilla cream flavor added.
it's the fad right now. taco bell has some drinks like this. i think it might be just a pepsi company thing.
anyway, my brother discovered a 20oz dirty mountain dew at wal-mart a few days ago & we got one to split.
it has a vanilla-y smell & a lemon-ish taste with a bit of vanilla. not horrible. and not something to get again.
found this a few days ago at wal-mart.
i know you're thinking; "wasn't that for thanksgiving?" well, it had a use by date of sept. 2026 so it was still good.
the taste of it was like stove top's savory herbs variety, but a lighter taste with the occasional tart cranberry.
tried it, so there's no reason to get it again.
hope you had a nice easter, if you celebrate.
and hope you find some candy in the discount sales tomorrow.
discovered this at wal-mart a few days ago.
it is dot's seasoned pretzel twists (mini) with garlic rye chips, bold cheese seasoned pita chips, and savory corn cereal (chex).
it's OK, put pricey ($6.17 for 14oz). i like chex snack mixes better, and they are cheaper ($3.96 for 13.5oz). and chex has bigger rye chips.
was warm over the weekend & then it was freezing and snowed.
people say this is typical march weather, but i don't recall it being this crazy before.
and it is technically spring now, so who knows what will go on with the weather.
take it easy with the green beer today, if you drink.
and i hope you can avoid the people that drank too much green beer if you don't.
despite not liking the last batch of krispy kreme doughuts from wal-mart, my brother discovered the limited time oreo ones and insisted we get them.
first of all; they are nearly $12 ($11.98) for 6!
second; they were better then the valentine's day ones. but not worth nearly $2 per doughnut. IMHO.
there have been several days of spring-like temperatures. although it is not technically spring until mar. 21, or something.
then it will get cold, or cold-ish, again for a little while.
heard about this brand fro a bit, saw it at target and decided to get it.
we got the vanilla bean one and it was OK. nothing special. breyers natural vanilla or blue bunny vanilla bean is just as good and usually a cheaper price.
a long time ago wal-mart had prepackaged krispy kream doughnuts on a display stand near the checkouts. they got rid of them awhile back because krispy kreme sales were not that good.
well, a couple of weeks ago we see they had a display by the checkouts again. this week we decided to get a half-dozen.
there was a glazed, chocolate iced, strawberry iced with sprinkles, cream filled with chocolate icing, strawberry jelly filled, & chocolates iced with sprinkles.
they were not very good. we thought the strawberry iced was just pink & not a flavored thing. it had a strong scent that hits you in the face a bit, like fake strawberry will do with a kind of strong strawberry taste. and the filled doughnuts did not have much filling.
disappointing and we will not get again.
hope you had a nice holiday and got some candy, or nice gifts.
if not, hopefully you can find something in the sales. if the stores didn't move out everything in favor for the easter stuff.
the weather in this case.
it is warming up to the 50s mid-week, but then it will get cold again.
and looking ahead in various on-line weather sites, it looks like the same thing next week.
we recently came across some new to us breads in the bakery area of wal-mart.
from a company called cidrines a porto rican bread; (from their site) "pan criollo strikes a harmonious balance between its crispy crust and soft crumb." it was pretty good, a very soft interior.
sobao bread, from the same company. kind of like a sweet french bread. but not as sweet as hawaiian bread.
and cubano bread from the wal-mart bakery was kind of like italian bread with a denser crust.
or so it seems.
january is reminding us that winter only started about a month ago and is not going to ease up for a while yet. despite the random days of spring-like temperatures.
highs in the 20s, lows in the teens, or single digits. with some snow now and then.
after several days of it being warmer with some rain, it is now cooling off with a chance of snow or frozen mix.
crazy stuff.
these are some new(?) limited-time thing that my brother discovered at target. a few days after christmas they had their christmas candy 30% off, so we got a bag to try.
not good. very strong fake sugar cookie taste. obviously will not get again.
my brother: "reese's need to stop with all of these flavors."
me: "we need to stop buying them."
