english is an odd language.
"i before e, except after c" doesn't always apply. the same with the vowels a, e, i, o & u; right? WRONG! now it's sometimes y & even w (for some reason)
and there's "silent Es" as in cube & tube. and other letters that you don't pronounce, but are there anyway. like the p in pneumonia, well i've never pronounced it anyway. and the o in opossum, but supposedly you're supposed to.
and then there's the matter of spelling. in what i call "england english" they spell color c-o-l-o-u-r & as far as i can tell, it's pronounced the same. it is said that English is a difficult second language to learn. and no wonder!
some people (i'm talking to you france) want to weed-out english words of their language. well here's a news flash for you; most, if not all words in the English language came from words in other languages!
look up just about any word in the dictionary & you'll see something like; "from old french meaning ___" or from greek meaning___" so it's not all strictly english you know.
confession time; i did this post mainly to use the icon (avatar) above. weird, i know.
