Five Christmases SGC personnel spent on base

the first christmas after the SGC was formed was kind of awkward, what with the goa'uld threat hanging over everyone. but jack decided that teal'c should be exposed to earth traditions. so he "rallied the troops" and had a party; complete with a decorated tree, cookies, christmas carols & egg nog.

cassie's first christmas on earth was kind of strained. the social worker in charge of her adoption thought that she should be placed with a family & not a single woman (janet), plus she was suspicious about the toronto story. so sam planned a christmas party for her. it didn't take much to convince hammond to dress as santa & many of the personnel exchanged gifts. daniel thought that cassie should have a choice of what traditions she could follow so they had a menorah & spun a dradle as well.

the first christmas after janet died was a sad one. there was a tree & cookies, but no one felt like singing. cassie wore the elf hat her mother always wore on christmas & everyone told stories about about janet. not only work-related ones, but from her civilian life as well.

jack's last christmas at the SGC before going to washington was bittersweet. everyone was happy that he got promoted, but most would miss him. some more than others. teal'c surprised everyone by dressing as santa & he said; "ha-ha-ha" instead of "ho-ho-ho," which annoyed jack. he kept telling everyone that teal'c should know better by now. someone spiked the egg nog & sam cornered jack behind the christmas tree with a sprig of mistletoe and managed to kiss him before stiler found her to ask if she wanted to join in singing christmas carols.

vala's first christmas on earth was kind of awkward with the ori threat hanging over everyone. teal'c thought vala should know something about earth traditions. he organized a party with all the trimmings, dressed as santa & with vala sitting on his lap, explained about the reason for the hoilday. daniel added in comments about the winter solstice & saturnalia. someone spiked the egg nog & sam cornered mitchell behind the christmas tree with a sprig of mistletoe and managed to kiss him before dr. lee found her to ask if she wanted to join in singing christmas carols.
