don't eat too much today & if you've had a bit too much to drink, call a cab to go home. (i read somewhere that there are more drunk driving accidents on thanksgiving than new year's eve) and be careful during all of the "black friday" madness. or the "pre-black friday" stuff today.

the return of burger king's italian chicken sandwich

it's just as good as i remember. anyone else recall the french chicken sandwich that was a cordon bleu sandwich with ham & swiss cheese and the american chicken sandwich that had mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato & american cheese. i liked those too, but i guess they weren't popular enough to bring back. way back when they used a veal parmesan sandwich that was pretty good too.

speaking of things returning; the mcrib is back at mcdonald's. *roll eyes* you can do just as well, or better, if you go a hungry man rib patty dinner, cooked it, took out the ribs & sauce, slapped it on a bun with onions, pickles & whatever the hell else you wanted. it would taste a lot better & you wouldn't have to wait for the stupid thing to come back or look at the website devoted to it and waste time & money driving over half of creation to get it.

in new at BK news they have a four cheese whopper. tried it, it's nothing special. they get a B- for effort.

a dunkin donuts opened near here recently & my brother is addicted to the donuts & this is the guy who generally avoids sweets. but his reason is the quality will drop off sooner rather than later. see, we have a theory that any new food place with be good for 6 months or a year after they open to get people to come in & then will switch to lesser quality stuff to save money once they think they have a sufficient costumer base to stay in business. the possible exception to this theory is the local IHOP, about 90% of their stuff is still good 6-7 years after they opened here.

the donut quality is pretty good at dunkin', for several of them. the french cruller is tender & the glaze si sweet, while at other places the taste & texture closely resemble cardboard. the oreo cream was not only good, but had a considerable amount or cream in it. and while the butter nut was a hefty, tasty baked good, the crumble stuff on the outside left much to be desired.
there have been some disappointments too. the apple crumb, apple & spice, bavarian kream, and boston cream didn't deliver as promised.

i've mad a few posts here about burger king & it might seem like i don't like the place. i actually do like their food (most of it) i just think they can do better. they have a new CEO, a 33 year-old guy that i hope will do more than just put out stuff that's a a re-arranged version of what they already have.
and what happened to the 50 cent cone for summer BK? mcdonald's has a 49 cent one. you dropped the ball this year.

a jimmy john's sandwich placed opened up near here not long ago. good sandwiches, but the music they play is too f**king loud. (i suppose that's to discourage people from hanging around too long) they have some interesting/amusing signage in the place. in general, it's better than subway, but doesn't have the bread options (both in size & the type) that subway has.

it's something that burger king was trying out & i hear it failed, which wasn't that much of a surprise. i don't think i have ever heard of anyone wishing they could get burgers at a fast-food place in the morning.
getting breakfast after 10 or 11 a.m. when most places stop serving it is the complaint i've heard more than anything. supposedly mcdonald's it going to try having breakfast 24/7. we'll see how that changes the game, if at all.

not long ago the brought out a chicken big king. the chicken patties are thin & don't taste any better than the original chicken sandwich, so it's not that great. IMHO.

now the have something called the extra long BBQ cheeseburger, which doesn't seem impressive to me. might try it anyway, i'm getting a bit tired of having the whopper all of the time. but over all, BK is better than mcdonald's. IMHO.

i messed up

i was going though all of my 5 things posts (kind of a long story) & realized i forgot one. it's probably more than one, but this one that stuck in my mind (i don't know why. it was way back in 2011) & i can't find any posting of it here.
