Five secret phone calls from Mitchell to Jack
1. mitchell knew when his team members birthdays were from their files, but he didn't know what kind of cake they liked. had no idea what to get them as gifts or what they might have been given in the past.
2. he called about the all-to-rare team game night. what snacks to bring? (was there anything the others were allergic to, or just didn’t like?) what games were preferred? were there any poor losers?
3. mitchell wondered if there were any topics that were not up for discussion. jack told him that neither daniel or teal’c liked to talk about their late wives. sam didn’t mind talking about her late parents, mostly her dad, but preferred to talk about cassie. daniel would only bring up his late parents, or his grandfather nick, in relation to any archaeological work they had done. very rarely would any of them discuss their love lives.
4. when daniel was taken by adria jack advised to just be available if sam wanted to talk & teal’c might want company in the gym while he, literally, worked-out his frustrations.
5. when mitchell was trying to “get the band back together” he was hitting all sorts of walls. sam was clinging to area 51, teal’c was bogged-down in jaffa politics & daniel was all ready to go to atlantis. he called to say that maybe jack made a mistake, that mitchell couldn’t reunite SG-1 and even if he could, maybe he wasn’t the man to lead the team after all. jack more or less told him he was being ridiculous, suggested that he had confidence in mitchell as well as his leadership skills & to call whenever he need advice about his teammates.
