five things #162
Five weird alien trust/bonding rituals
1. something mitchell called "a dance riot." people would gather in a hall, music would be played & everyone was encouraged to dance is the strangest ways possible. the theory was if everyone looked silly, then no one would be embarrassed. laughing (at yourself & others) was encouraged, because it was good for your health.
2. something daniel called "the honesty policy." at communal meals everyone was encouraged to stand up and say what they liked or didn't like about the meal. it could be anything from; "the roast was tender." to "there was too much pepper in the stew."
3. something jack called "the treasure hunt." people were given spades a buckets & allowed to dig in a field and the nearby woods. people found interesting colored stones, worms for fishing & sometimes a small fossil.
4. something teal'c called "the big hike." people put on sturdy shoes and climbed up in the hills. when they got there everyone would admire the view, maybe take some pictures & share whatever food and drink they brought with them.
5. something sam called "the shopping experience." people would go in small groups to the outdoor market, browse the stalls, occasionally haggle, but rarely bought anything.

Five things Janet learned while SG-1 was under sedation
they sometimes talk in their sleep
she learned the name of jack's high school crush. he'd only mutter about her after being shot.
janet learned about how daniel was treated in his various foster homes. not all of it was good.
she learned that sam has nightmares about defending her dissertation.
teal'c repeatedly dreams about apologizing to his wife and son for leaving.
they all relive many of they battles they were involved in.

former stargate writer/producer joseph mallozzi opened the floor for questions, i submitted some.
archersangel writes: “1. what happened with the dogs you were looking to adopt? (or did i miss that?)”
Answer: See above. I’m holding off until I know where I’ll be living next year.
“ 2. any weird food purchase of the day videos on the horizon? maybe something in tokyo?”
Answer: Chances are good, especially in Tokyo when we visit Ice Cream City. Seaweed ice cream here I come!
“3. while doing your days of stargate past entries do you think about what could’ve been done differently? should’ve gone with a different actor in a part or wrote a line differently? (for examples)”
Answer: Oh, I’m sure everyone second-guesses themselves in terms of decisions made. It’s very easy to reconsider choices made with the benefit of hindsight. As for examples – well, you just gave me a terrific idea for a blog entry.

five things #160
Five things all the members of SG1 have in their homes/quarters
books. of all types & in varying numbers.
instant coffee. no one really liked it, but when you're working late & you don't feel like dragging yourself to the mess hall (or making a pot at home) a couple of scoops in a cup with hot water from the tap was better than nothing.
a box of photos from most of the SGC picnics & christmas parties that they keep telling themselves they'll organize into albums someday.
something from childhood. an old blanket, toy, hat or drawing they made. no one is sure why they keep the thing, but can't make themselves throw it away.
a stack of movies they keep meaning to watch, most likely on team movie night. thank God netflix doesn't charge late fees.

an orphand 5 things response
back in 2008 (or so) i misread a prompt over at 5 things "5 conversations cam & jack never had" as "5 conversations sam and jack never had". i mentioned that to one of the moderators and they said to suggest the prompt, write it & maybe it will come up one day. as far as i know it has not. i did the actual one BTW. i thought it deserved to be seen by eyes other than mine.

major bummer
found out today why there haven't been any new 5 things prompts in a while, they're folding up. this has been a big part of my on-line life since 2007 and to say i'll miss it is an understatement. as a final thing they're looking to fill as many of the answered prompts as possible. i plan on doing as many as i can before the closing date of nov. 15 *puts on thinking cap*
there still are several older ones that i've done, but have jst to post over here. (i'm about a year behind) so you'll be seeing 5 things from me here for a while yet.

5 things interupted
there haven't been any new prompts for a couple of weeks. i'm sure someone has PMed the moderator there & hopefully there will be new ones soon.
it's kind of odd not typing out any stuff for it or wracking my brain trying to come up with something. i've been doing at least one prompt in every set since 2007 (i think) first as an anonymous, then with my openID. the only time i did all of them was a special 6 set for new years for, i think, new years 2008.
by the way, all of the five things stuff i post her are older ones that i've done. some have been edited for spelling and/or to make better sense, but all are works by me. any similarity to any other works is an coincidence.
